Chapter 255 Flora's Dream (Part 2)
After a while, Flora slowed down her movement of pushing the swing. Su Ming saw Flora looking at Milo with extremely gentle eyes, then rubbed his head with a smile.
"We've been playing for a long time. Mom should have prepared dinner. Shall we go in and eat?"
"Sister, I want to play for a while." Milo said with a smile.
"Be good, I'll play with you after dinner."
"Um... can't we play?" Milo frowned and lowered his head in disappointment.
He jumped off the swing, looked up at Flora with his innocent eyes, and said slowly: "But when I grow up, I will have to use a wheelchair, so I can't play on the swing."
Su Ming's heart tightened.
Sure enough, it’s not that simple.
Flora's smile froze on her face. The bright sunshine around her immediately dimmed. Dark clouds covered the sky above the cabin. The warm air lowered the temperature. Milo's mouth corner slightly raised, and his smile looked a little hideous.
"Milo, I'll try! You won't always be like this!"
Flora stretched out her arms to hug him, but Milo shook her hands away. Then a gust of wind blew over, and the fallen leaves danced wildly. Flora seemed to have her eyes narrowed by the wind and sand. She covered her face with her hands. The moment she covered her face, Su Ming noticed that Milo's appearance had changed.
Things in dreams change the fastest, without transitions. Su Ming couldn't describe this change. It was a bit like the instant switching of scenes in a movie. The young Milo suddenly grew up. He sat in a wheelchair that came from nowhere, staring at Flora with a gloomy expression.
Su Ming felt a chill, a feeling that often occurs when watching horror movies. The background music gradually becomes louder and the camera slowly approaches the blind spot. The audience knows that monsters and scares are coming, but they don't know when they will come.
Su Ming also has the same feeling now. Flora's dreams present a bizarre and weird feeling. Although all dreams are illogical, the tone of dreams often changes gradually. It takes a transition process for a beautiful dream to turn into a nightmare... but there is no such process in Flora's dream.
"Milo?" Flora put down her hand and looked at Milo sitting in a wheelchair, two lines of tears sliding down from the corners of her eyes.
Of course, she didn't care about the sudden change between young Milo and adult Milo. She completely accepted the change and was completely immersed in the dream.
Flora knelt down slowly, stretched out her trembling hands, held Milo's skinny hands, and said, "I will save you, I promise!"
"Sister, you've been talking about this for so many years, why haven't you saved me yet? Do you think living is easy?"
Milo stared at Flora and sighed, "Sister, you are so healthy. How many years have you not been sick? You should be happy that someone is taking your place in the pain, right?"
"No! No, I didn't!" Flora was at a loss and her emotions were almost out of control.
Su Ming watched this scene, hesitating whether to condense his body to help comfort Flora, but finally gave up the idea.
We have too little information about Flora's heart knot so far. Dream therapy can be implemented slowly later. The most important thing now is to find out the crux of Flora's psychological problem.
Su Ming is convinced that the person sitting in the wheelchair now is definitely not the real Milo, he is just a collection of negative emotions in Flora's mind.
Flora's inner sense of indebtedness and guilt towards Milo gradually fermented and transformed over time, eventually turning into a cruel form of mental self-abuse.
Milo, who was in a wheelchair, took out a knife and put it in Flora's hand: "Sister, I feel so bad, please die."
Thunder roared in the sky.
Flora held the knife, looking dazed.
Su Ming could feel her emotions fluctuating violently, but he had no idea what she was thinking.
Seeing that Flora was holding the knife and was hesitant to act, Milo took the knife from Flora and stabbed himself in the chest.
"If you don't die, I will! One of us must die! One of us must die!"
Milo frantically thrust the knife into his chest. This scene seemed very fake to Su Ming, because it was impossible for a person to scream and shout like that when his heart was stabbed.
But even though it was such a fake scene, Flora believed it completely. She cried and tried to stop Milo, screaming hoarsely.
This scene was weird and bizarre, making people feel uncomfortable all over. Although this dream was not realistic at all and there was no sense of immersion, Su Ming could vaguely feel the emotions conveyed in Flora and Milo's every move. Su Ming felt that every move of Milo and Flora in the dream was expressing a lot of emotional messages.
Without the constraints of real logic, the outburst of emotions became more direct and dramatic. Su Ming's heart was in his throat. He could feel Flora's despair at the moment and felt that the nightmare should be awakened at this moment.
But the facts were completely contrary to Su Ming's thoughts. Until now, Flora showed no signs of waking up.
There is no doubt that this is a nightmare, and Su Ming does not believe that there will be any good turn later.
Well… since there won’t be any good turn, what happens in this dream afterwards should be even more terrifying.
Not long after, Milo stabbed himself to death with the knife. The wheelchair fell to one side and the body lay straight on the ground. Flora was already frozen beside him.
What would happen next ? Would she keep looking at the dead Milo in her dreams?
No, it won't be just that, there must be something else happening, Su Ming guessed.
As expected, the door of the wooden house behind Flora opened and a woman rushed out of the house. If Su Ming guessed correctly, this woman should be Flora's mother.
"Milo! Milo!"
The woman rushed to her son, crying and shouting sadly , while Flora stood beside her, at a loss as to what to do.
Flora opened her mouth as if she wanted to explain something, but the next second, the woman suddenly looked up and stared at Flora with resentful eyes.
"It's all your fault! If it weren't for you, how could your brother have died!"
Su Ming saw that Flora wanted to speak, but she opened her mouth several times but no words came out, only tears kept flowing.
Then many people walked out from the blurry scene in the distance. Su Ming certainly didn't recognize these people, but judging from their clothes, they should be from the Osborn family.
An old man looked at Milo and Flora from a distance, with no expression on his face. He walked up and patted Flora on the shoulder, saying, "It can't be helped. The most important thing is to live a good life in the days ahead. Work hard for the family, and everyone in the family will accept you."
"You are very talented. After you marry Lance, you will be a member of the Mitchell and Osborn families. With your ability, you can win more honor for the Osborn family."
"This is reality. You should have known this a long time ago. You should have come to your senses after being so willful for so long. Now that you're alone, you must be feeling a lot more relaxed."
Su Ming heard these people speaking emotionless words of comfort to Flora, but judging from their expressions, they wanted to accept Flora.
Soon, another man came out. He walked to Milo's body, looked at Milo, and then gently hugged Flora's mother.
"Milo had a terminal illness, so his death was worthwhile. At least Flora became stronger." The man said expressionlessly.
Then, he turned his head and looked at Flora: "Daughter, don't take it to heart, this is Milo's destined ending."
Oh, it turns out this man is Flora’s father, Su Ming thought.
Flora's mother looked sad and stared at Flora with a questioning look and resentment in her eyes.
Her father squatted there with an expressionless face, seemingly not caring at all about his son's death.
Behind him were the Osborns who were comforting her. They looked at Flora expectantly, but there was no emotion in their eyes.
Su Ming immediately understood why Flora had such a bizarre dream.
It would be fine if he didn't notice it, but once he knew what Flora was thinking, Su Ming's heart felt like it was twisted into pieces, and he felt depressed and upset.
He knew that these scenes in his dreams were not real situations, but they were definitely what Flora felt might happen but was most afraid of.
In Flora's heart, her mother should hate her because in a sense, it was she who took Milo's life.
Su Ming believed that Flora's mother would not hate her, but Flora obviously did not think so . She felt that she deserved this punishment.
Because Milo was no longer around, the Osborn family treated Flora as a more useful tool. In the dream, even Su Ming, a bystander, could feel their hypocrisy and lack of emotion.
And Flora's father... Su Ming couldn't understand his attitude.
In Flora's mind, is her father such a person? Someone who doesn't care about Milo's life or death?
Su Ming watched Flora raise her hand, wanting to touch her mother, but was forced back by her mother's gaze. She withdrew her hand angrily, looked blankly at the family members behind her, lowered her head and slowly covered her face with both hands, her desperate sobs could be heard under her hands.
Flora in the dream has nowhere to go. Although her family is willing to accept her, the family is not her real home.
And she felt a strong sense of guilt towards her mother... She completely regarded herself as the enemy who killed Milo, and she had no way out.
Su Ming felt that the best way to help Flora now was to let her understand that her mother would never hate her even if she knew the truth.
Milo's death was not her fault, but fate. She shouldn't have to bear this tragedy alone.
"Flora, join the investigation bureau with me."
Su Ming's voice suddenly came, and even Su Ming himself was stunned for a moment, but he didn't say anything.
As her eyes moved, a person who looked exactly like Su Ming walked from the blurry outer scene of the dream into the clear scene and came in front of Flora.
At this time, Su Ming found that everything around him faded. Flora's parents and those members of the Osborn family gradually became blurred and faint, and soon became the background.
This means that Flora's attention and emotions in the dream were all focused on that fictional self.
"Su Ming?" Flora said in a low voice, with a gleam of light in her eyes.
