Chapter 290 Unable to communicate
At half past four, He Shu woke up before the alarm clock rang.
He got up and walked to the window, and found that it had rained outside. He couldn't help but start to worry about the homeless man.
I washed up and went out quickly, but I couldn't stop a car on the road.
He went back to the hotel, borrowed an umbrella from the front desk, and walked towards the gate.
Halfway through the walk, around 5:30, Ji Wanying sent a message asking him if he had gotten up.
He Shu told her that he had gone to the doorway, and Ji Wanying sent her the address of a hospital where they could do an appraisal, which was the same address that He Shu had looked up himself last night.
Knowing that He Shu wanted to go see the homeless man first, Ji Wanying said she would go to the hospital for consultation first.
After crossing the overpass and walking towards the bungalow area, some places had not yet been paved with asphalt, and He Shu's shoes were soon stained black by the mud.
From afar, he saw a homeless man sitting in the corner of the doorway, eating something in his hands.
Seeing people, He Shu did not go over. He remembered that there was a breakfast shop , so he went back to buy a breakfast and ate it in the shop, then packed up a few buns, fried dough sticks and a cup of hot soy milk.
I carried it to the doorway and saw the homeless man still sitting there in a daze.
He no longer remembered that someone had pulled his hair last night, and he didn't care about the person who was watching him outside with an umbrella.
He Shu approached carefully, but the homeless man didn't react at all.
After He Shu put the packed breakfast not far in front of him and then stepped back some distance.
The homeless man stretched out his dirty hands, grabbed the bun, held it in his arms and ate it.
He Shu breathed a sigh of relief and watched him from a distance. Although the other person was very dirty, it could still be seen that he was really young and his age was right.
At this time, He Shu's phone rang again. It was Ji Wanying.
Ji Wanying is already in the hospital and has even found out the price. She can take the materials there now, but the identification results will not be available until at least a week later.
Seeing that the homeless man did not run around, He Shu turned around, left the doorway, and hailed a taxi on the street that had just picked up an early shift.
When they arrived at the hospital, the rain had stopped. Ji Wanying was waiting for him at the door and took He Shu directly to the identification center.
Submit all the identification materials, pay the fees, and all that’s left is to wait.
"Have you had breakfast?" Ji Wanying asked, "Do you want to go eat first?"
"I've eaten. Thank you for coming to help me so early in the morning."
Ji Wanying smiled, and her eyebrows, which were much thicker than those of ordinary girls, raised up smartly when she smiled.
"I've already told you not to be so polite. What are you going to do next? Just wait here for the appraisal?"
He Shu was also a little worried. During the few days of waiting, he couldn't monitor the homeless man day and night.
But what if he runs away one day? There is no pattern to follow for such a person, he might suddenly disappear without a trace.
"I have a suggestion for you, would you like to hear it?"
He Shu looked at Ji Wanying, only to hear her say, "The municipal government should have a management policy for homeless people like this. I heard there is a rescue station there. Why don't we look for it?"
Aid station? He Shu thought it was feasible to send him to the aid station first, so that he would be temporarily looked after.
"That's a good idea. I'll go over to the doorway and call the rescue station."
"Okay, shall I come with you?"
He Shu hesitated for a moment: "I've troubled you enough, I can go by myself."
Hearing what He Shu said, Ji Wanying smiled and said, "Okay then, if you need any help from me, just call me. You're welcome."
"Okay, thank you."
The two left the hospital separately. Ji Wanying stood there for a while after watching He Shu get into the car and leave.
He took out his cell phone to look up the rescue station’s phone number, and then called to inquire.
He Shu returned to the doorway and found that the homeless man was gone!
The breakfast he bought for him was turned out and scattered on the garbage dump, along with the homeless man's luggage: a pile of dirty clothes rolled up together.
He Shu hurriedly looked around and asked others, and finally found it next to a trash can a hundred meters away.
The homeless man was picking up the garbage to eat. He Shu couldn't understand his behavior. He had clearly bought him a clean breakfast, but he fell from the garbage dump and picked up the dirty ones to eat.
He Shu tried to communicate with him: "Hello?"
The homeless man ignored him, and from time to time he took out something and put it in his mouth. Because his hair was too long and blocked his vision, he would pull his hair from time to time.
"What's your name?" He Shu said as he approached carefully.
The homeless man still didn't respond, which made He Shu wonder if he couldn't hear?
He Shu moved closer, and the stench coming from the homeless man and the trash can made him almost nauseous.
He tried to reach out and touch the other person, but when he reached out his hand, the homeless man turned around and stuffed half a fruit core he had picked up into his mouth, as if he was afraid that He Shu would snatch it away.
Seeing this, He Shu stopped reaching out to him and instead touched his hair.
I don’t know how long it has been since I last washed my hair, it’s now sticky and tangled into tangles.
Fortunately, the homeless man didn't react much to He Shu's actions.
"Don't eat anymore. Didn't I buy you some clean food? Do you want to eat some fruit? Can I take you to buy some?"
He Shu tried to pull off the layers of tattered clothes on his body, but they could hardly cover his flesh.
This time the homeless man reacted a little more strongly and swung his arm over.
He Shu quickly dodged and avoided being knocked to the ground by his arm.
Seeing that the homeless man refused to follow him, He Shu thought that he would stay here for the time being, so he turned around and walked towards the street again.
I found a small shop and bought some food and drinks. I saw there was fruit for sale, so I bought some more.
Then I thought about it and bought a towel.
When I returned to the doorway again, the homeless man was walking towards the doorway from the opposite side.
This place is about to be demolished. I don’t know how many years ago the doorway was built. The tiles on top are exposed and the beams are rotten.
If there is a slight storm or earthquake, it will probably collapse immediately.
This place is too dangerous. Now people who live here don’t leave anymore and it’s slowly becoming like a garbage dump.
Currently, it is used as a shelter by a homeless person, and even fewer people come here.
He Shu waited for him to sit back on the garbage pile, with his head down, fiddling with something.
He walked up to him, unscrewed a bottle of mineral water and handed it to him. To He Shu's relief, he knew how to drink it and did not refuse.
After he drank half a bottle of water and put it aside, He Shu took out another peach and gave it to him.
The homeless man also took it and started to eat it.
While he was concentrating on eating the peach, He Shu walked to the side, picked up the half-remaining bottle of mineral water and poured it on the towel.
Then, regardless of the dirtiness, she lifted up his long hair that was blocking his face and tried to wipe his face.
Except for the first time when he turned his head away with some resistance, he seemed to find the wet and cool towel very comfortable and did not hide anymore.
He Shu felt somewhat delighted. He squatted beside him, stepping on the garbage and wiping his face bit by bit.
But he was so dirty that he couldn't wipe it off.
He Shu gathered his hair behind his head. He didn't have a hairband or anything, so he picked up a shoelace from the trash and tied his hair up.
Then, He Shu took advantage of the other party's inattention and flipped through the roll of tattered clothes beside him.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to prove my identity, everything is garbage...
