Chapter 817: The Way to Liberation (2)
The sea of blood was surging and the Lord was howling in anger.
The sky is filled with blood and the gods and demons are restless.
The old monk Hongchen sat upright on the sea of blood, smiling and kind, just like an old grandmother who had entered her twilight years and had become indifferent to life and death, honor and disgrace. He calmly taught Lu Yi the most fundamental Buddhist teachings that he had comprehended in his sleep over the years.
“There is no supreme being.”
“There is no profound saying.”
“It is just the root of Buddhism.”
Behind the old monk Hongchen, layers of bright lights lit up. In the pure land of Buddhism, countless strange gods and demons sat cross-legged under the Bodhi tree, on the golden lotus, or lying in the sea of Mandala flowers, smiling and listening to his stories quietly.
These gods and demons may not move their lips, but their hearts are moving.
They silently chanted the name "Red Dust" in their hearts, and the simple and primitive power of thought condensed into a vast golden light, which gradually overflowed from the Buddha's kingdom and illuminated the entire sea of blood.
"To put it in the simplest language of Liangyitian's native dialect... before I entered Taoism, I was an ordinary 'person'."
The old monk Hongchen smiled, and lightly stroked his forehead with his right index finger. The extremely thin vertical line between his eyebrows separated to the left and right, revealing a pair of eyes that were clearly black and white, shiny and full of infinite vitality and infinite creation.
"Of course, I was born in what you call the 'upper realm'. Therefore, I, as a 'person', am naturally somewhat different from you. For example, this natural eye of mine naturally contains a great innate talent and possesses great power."
“However, even if we have such an eye, if we, the ‘mortals’ of the ‘upper realm’, do not practice and work hard to ascend, after we reach adulthood, our strength will probably be the same as that of ordinary Buddhas of the second or third kalpa, and our lifespan will only last for a great kalpa at most.”
The old monk narrated the mortal world in a rambling manner.
For example, the characteristics of the "mortal" race he came from, his innate strange magical powers and abilities, how long the lifespan of a great catastrophe is, etc.
During the Great Tribulation Meeting, when Lu Yu was in the 18th Great Tribulation Meeting, he heard a suppressed villain say that he had been hunted for nine Great Tribulation Meetings... Lu Yu thought that this was roughly the same as the concept of "one year or two years" in Liang Yi Tian. But after the old monk Hong Chen explained, Lu Yu realized how shallow his knowledge was!
From the creation of the Yin-Yang Heaven to the present day, tens of trillions of years have passed. In the "upper realm", this is less than a great catastrophe.
"My clan is a bit strange. If a mortal in Liangyi Heaven dies, there is still reincarnation. If they are not beaten to death, they still have a chance to be reborn again. But for my clan, if they return to the underworld naturally, they will be completely annihilated and nothingness, without any residue left."
"I am unwilling to accept this."
Looking up, the old monk Hongchen muttered to himself absentmindedly: "Since that day, I was teasing 'Wuniujun' in front of my house... Oh, Wuniujun is my pet. Its appearance is somewhat similar to the 'big yellow dog' of Liangyi Heaven."
"I was young at the time, and was teasing Wu Ni Jun. When I was feeding him a bone, a strong light passed through the sky. Three 'sky's' passed through the sky together, and their bodies were shining with divine light, even overshadowing the sun, moon and stars in the sky."
"Look up and see the sky."
"Look down, it's Wu Nijun who has gnawed all the meat and bones I threw down, and is sniffing the urine he just peed!"
"I suddenly realized that I was not willing to live a mediocre life... How could I accept a life span of just one great catastrophe? I stole money and property from my family, asked people for information, and collected various sacred and magical books. Finally, I figured out the relationship between the realm and life span in my world."
"At that time, I was thinking about eternal immortality and indestructibility, but I didn't dare to hope for that at that time."
"But, living through a thousand great calamities would... make sense, right?"
The old monk Hongchen smiled brightly: "At that time, I set a small life goal. Let's not talk about other things. I will live for a thousand great calamities first... For this goal, I can do anything!"
"So, the origin of my first honorific title, 'Diandaotian', is that... I don't want to be a human being anymore!"
"I don't want to be a human anymore. So, in order to survive a thousand great calamities, I can do whatever it takes and pay any price... This price can be myself or others. So, I did a lot of wrong things and made a lot of mistakes. At that time, I was obsessed and didn't realize my mistakes. I just kept working hard... just... kept working hard!"
"I have turned the world upside down, turned the world upside down, subverted the heaven and earth, subverted human relations, subverted rules, subverted laws and disciplines... I have done countless evil, vicious, and vicious things... Finally, one day, I suddenly realized that the life span of a mere one thousand great calamities is really nothing!"
"So , I have a second honorific title... Emperor Zuntian."
"The world is upside down. I don't want to be a human being anymore."
"Emperor Zuntian, it is me who does not treat people as human beings!"
The tone of the old monk Hongchen became very vague and inexplicable... He muttered in a low voice: "If you don't treat people as human beings, everything is just a tool, everything is just a resource. So, look at this Pure Land of Buddha in my place, how 'happy' are the gods and demons there?"
"Haha, this is the greatest terror, the greatest sorrow... They actually don't know whether they are happy or not, and they don't understand whether they are sad or not. Their joys, sorrows, anger, and happiness, everything, are all instilled in them by me. I let them cry, they cry; I let them laugh, they laugh; I let them reproduce, and they mate and give birth like crazy animals, filling my Buddhist kingdom generation after generation, providing me with a steady supply of powerful and elite conquering armies!"
Lu Yu only felt a chill in the back of his heart.
He dared to be sure that this person was truly the Buddha of Liang Yi Tian... because Liang Yi Tian's various magical powers and secret techniques of Buddhism were not exactly the same as what he said, but they were indeed passed down from the same lineage!
In the Buddhist kingdoms opened up by the Buddhas, those believers and disciples seem to live carefree lives, chanting scriptures and worshiping all day long, providing their Buddhas with an endless supply of faith and power, and becoming the nourishment and elixir needed for their Buddhas to continuously break through their realms.
No Buddha or deity would care whether they are happy or not.
It seems that they should be happy, right?
No worries, no fears, no sadness, no jealousy.
No heat, no cold, no hunger, no injuries.
As long as they happily chant scriptures and worship Buddha all day long , as long as the Buddha they worship does not die, and as long as this Buddhist country is not conquered and destroyed by powerful enemies, they can survive like this forever.
Is this kind of life...happy?
The walking dead, the puppet!
The old monk Hongchen smiled at Lu Yi and said, "Emperor Zuntian doesn't treat people as human beings. In the current Liangyi Heaven, if Buddhist disciples want to improve their cultivation, they should still take this path, right? Plunder and accumulate believers, and 'shelter' them in your own Buddhist kingdom, eliminating all their distracting thoughts and ideas... As long as they are honest and provide incense and mental power peacefully, it will be fine!"
"You don't treat me as a human being! I was suppressed by the Demon Prison of Loulan City's Demon Suppression Division just because of this matter."
The old monk sighed softly, his fingers unconsciously scribbling in front of him, leaving clear cracks in the space.
"At that time, I had just left Liangyi Heaven not long ago."
"Liangyi Heaven is the last world where I left the seeds of Buddhism... Why did I leave the seeds of Buddhism there instead of converting all the living beings in the heaven into gods and demons of the Buddha Kingdom?"
The old monk Hongchen whispered to himself: "Perhaps at that time, I actually didn't want to be 'Emperor Zuntian' anymore?"
"Well, anyway, not long after I left Liangyi Heaven, I suddenly felt tired and yearned for the forest, so I made a long and arduous journey back to the heaven where I came from... But on the way home, I suddenly had an epiphany and was faced with a major breakthrough."
"Once this barrier is broken through, it will not just be a matter of a thousand great calamities of life."
"But the path I was going to take at that time... well, anyway, I needed some 'essence' of gods and demons to fill the gods and demons. So, I attacked Loulan City... and then, I was hunted down by Loulan City with all my might."
"Logically, with my cultivation level at that time, even if the Lord of Loulan City personally took action, he would not be able to do anything to me. What's more, what about a mere Demon Slayer and his subordinates?"
"But I am really not far from the state of 'liberation'. It's just a matter of a thin veil between us. So, I am half passive and half active, and I am suppressed in the Demon Prison."
"What a long, deep, and sweet dream."
"I finally realized the truth in my dream, and understood the true essence of Buddhism... Maybe it's not the true essence of Buddhism, but it is the limit of what I can touch now, and the limit of what I can understand."
"So, Emperor Zuntian... no longer exists."
"The world, the world, the world... The world is the human heart, the world is life... The Dharma... Buddha... Buddha actually does not need the Dharma, does not need the Tao, does not need magical powers, and does not need fighting skills. Buddha is just perception, just wisdom, just experience, just a cup of old wine brewed from all the ups and downs you have walked through, seen, heard, and tasted along the way from birth to death."
"What kind of Taoism, what kind of magic power, what kind of magical power, what kind of secret technique... When a Buddhist disciple goes further and further on the path of pursuing these trivial matters, and his or her Taoism becomes deeper and deeper, his or her magic power becomes stronger and stronger, and his or her magical power becomes more and more incredible... you are already a million miles away from becoming a Buddha."
With a sigh, the old monk Hongchen sneered, "Just like the 'Dao Sect' in Liangyi Heaven, they have also taken the wrong path... Haha, what is Tao? Tao is nature... Have you ever seen 'nature' that is frantically scraping the land and searching for rare and precious medicines like a starving ghost to fill its own 'Tao deficiency'?"
The old monk Hongchen said leisurely: "I have realized my past mistakes... I just don't know if that 'Daoyou' has understood it?"
"But that has nothing to do with me anymore."
"Fahai, I will pass on this 'liberation method' to you...liberation, liberation...liberation is not death, but a kind of great freedom, great happiness, great clarity, and great ease."
"Be free from worries, concerns, fears, and fears. Only when you understand everything can you be liberated!"
