Volume 1: Die with Unclosed Eyes Chapter 1. Smelly shopping mall
In the eyes of many people who don’t understand the “grave repair” business, “grave repairers” only do the hard work of digging pits, carrying coffins, and erecting tombstones. In fact, grave repair is far more than that.
Let me first tell you why I entered this industry. Before entering this industry, I was a real boss. Of course, the so-called boss was just a small boss. I specialized in interior decoration or renovation projects for department stores.
The reason I had this opportunity was because I have a father who is the director of the Economic and Trade Commission. Needless to say, the relationship between the department store and the Economic and Trade Commission is very close, so it was a natural progression for me to take on this job.
However, relationships are relationships, and I am absolutely fair and honest in all my projects. The materials and labor used are all of the highest standards under the premise of profitability.
I have to bring honor to my father and not lose face for him. After all, the job I do is small, but my father's career is big.
It is precisely because I insist on the "quality route" that I have a very good reputation in this industry. Later, some private shopping malls began to find me to do work. However, a big tree attracts wind, and I soon got into trouble.
The business unit is a newly built large shopping mall under the department store, located in the middle section of the most prosperous Renmin Street. However, for some unknown reason, there is always a foul smell in the mall, which is sometimes strong and sometimes weak. The mall's air filtration system was newly installed, so even if there is any odor, it cannot be a foul smell. The mall also hired a dredging company to dredge the sewers and manholes around it, but the foul smell lingers like a wandering ghost, no matter it is windy, rainy or sunny, the smell always lingers inside the store.
This will definitely affect the business, not to mention the customers, even the internal staff can't stand it. The building manager is at a loss and thinks of finding a decoration company to solve this problem.
According to their opinion, they should find a professional decoration company to block all the air holes that can be blocked, and I did so, but the odor still could not be solved.
I knew I couldn't mess up this job, but the problem was that there were many reasons why a place might produce a bad smell. I wasn't an expert in this area, so I couldn't solve this problem in a targeted manner. I could only run around like a headless fly, but people's luck wouldn't always be good, so this time I never found the source of the bad smell.
I can't just quit this thing. Even if I don't ask for money, people will still talk about me. You can do the work that makes money, but you act like a grandson when there's trouble. How can I get along with the relationships I've built over the years?
So I went to my dad, hoping that he could help me get rid of this job.
Unexpectedly, my father said straightforwardly: "You can do this job."
"I really have no idea. I really can't do it." I said with a frown.
"When I say you are capable, I don't mean you have to do it alone. I'll find you an expert who can definitely help you solve this problem." After saying that, my father picked up the phone and dialed the number, then started greeting the other party in his hometown dialect.
My hometown is Longhua Village, Zhejiang Province. I have never been back since I was a child, so my relatives in my hometown only know this branch of my family. Judging from the way my father addressed them, the people he was looking for should not be my uncle and aunt.
After hanging up the phone, my father said, "The car that leaves tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock is called Luo Tianbao. Go pick him up at the bus station. He can definitely solve your problem."
When I heard this rustic name, I felt a little disapproving, thinking that my father was promoting his relatives from his hometown. However, I certainly didn't dare to openly deny his opinion. The next morning at 8 o'clock, I was waiting at the bus station on time. I didn't know what Luo Tianbao looked like, but I had his cell phone number and planned to call him later.
But before I could pull out my phone, someone next to me said, "Are you Yu Zhen?"
I turned my head and saw an unremarkable person standing in front of me.
The man was short and fat, about thirty years old, with rather honest features, but a pair of small eyes that were bright and lively.
"Are you Second Brother Luo?" Dad said that Luo Tianbao is the second child in the family , so he asked me to call him Second Brother.
"It's the first time we meet, please take care of me." Luo Tianbao said with a smile, his eyes a little cunning.
"How did you recognize me?"
"Your eyebrows and nose are just like your second uncle's. No need to take a second look." These are the only two facial features similar between my dad and me. Luo Tianbao has a sharp eye.
"Then let's go home and have some rest..."
"No need, just take me directly to the project address. I must complete the tasks assigned by my second uncle."
"But you haven't eaten yet?"
"I have bread here." After saying that, he took out a large old-fashioned round loaf of bread from the cloth bag he carried with him and started eating.
I couldn't help laughing secretly and thought: Country people have really good appetites. They can even eat such coarse bread.
I grew up in the city, and to be honest, I do feel superior to relatives like Luo Tianbao who come from the countryside . However, Luo Tianbao still felt that it was not "rough" enough, and then he actually took out a clove of garlic from his body and ate the bread with garlic.
I'm drunk too.
Soon the car arrived in front of a large shopping mall. I was about to park when Luo Tianbao said, "Don't worry. Go around this street and let me take a look first."
I had no idea what he wanted to see, so I drove around the entire street where the mall was located as he asked. When we got back to where we were, he had finished his large bread and garlic. Luo Tianbao wiped the bread crumbs from his mouth and said, "You mean there's always a bad smell in the mall, right?"
"Yes, we've investigated every possible cause and plugged every possible hole, but the problem still remains unsolved."
"The problem has been found. Just tear down this land." Luo Tianbao pointed to the hospital next to the shopping mall .
I was really amused when I heard this. I clearly asked him to solve the problem of "where does the stench come from", but he ended up demolishing the house, and the demolition was irrelevant to the issue.
Perhaps because I didn't say anything, Luo Tianbao, his mouth full of garlic, put his mouth close to my nose and pointed at the medical building opposite and said, "I'm not asking you to tear down this building, I'm asking you to tear down this wall."
"Tearing down the wall won't work. If we do, won't the people inside the building be exposed?"
"I'm not talking about the main wall. Have you seen this outer wall? I want you to tear down this outer wall."
The shopping mall and the People's Medical College are separated by a narrow one-way road. The distance between the two buildings is very close, and there is a blue-gray wall built next to the side wall of the medical college building, which is like the two sides of a door, one side of which is covered with two layers of wooden boards.
However, without Luo Tianbao's guidance, I would have wandered around here every day and had not noticed this detail.
