Volume 4: The Sea and the Ship Heading North Chapter 299: The Confidentiality Law That Changed the Times

“But now the situation has changed.”
Jon said very seriously, looking at the Slytherin.
"Please allow me to introduce myself first, Mr. Slytherin. My name is Jon Green, and I am a third-year student at Hogwarts under the guidance of Professor Dumbledore..."
"Of course I know Dumbledore." Slytherin interrupted him loudly, "Tom told me that he was the previous headmaster of Hogwarts. As a descendant of Dumbledore's pure-blood family, he was extremely partial to Muggle students and even colluded with Muggle countries to persecute pure-bloods and half-bloods even more cruelly. He was a treacherous villain!"
After hearing his words, Jon immediately understood.
His guess turned out to be correct. Voldemort had never told the truth to his ancestors and was trying his best to discredit Dumbledore.
This is perfectly normal.
From what Slytherin had just said, Jon could tell that although this old man's reputation in the history of magic was not as good as that of the other three founders, he also left behind the Chamber of Secrets and the Basilisk in Hogwarts Castle, which were intended to cleanse the entire castle and massacre the Muggle students.
But considering the historical context in which he lived, his approach is understandable.
Moreover, even if he built the secret room and put the basilisk in it, he did not immediately initiate the cleansing. Instead, he left a legend and gave the option of opening the door to the dispensable successor, which was actually patching up the practices of the other three founders.
If the future was really as he imagined, and all the efforts made to establish Hogwarts were in vain, then there would be pure-blood students who would follow the legend he left behind, open the secret chamber, and cleanse the punks.
From his actions, we can see that although this old man's behavior is a bit extreme, his heart is always good. Otherwise, he would not have established Hogwarts with the other three founders to save the children who were suppressing their magic power and turning them into magical talents.
Voldemort most likely saw this as well. He could not speak out all of his cruel ambitions, and he had to do his best to belittle his opponents in order to gain the favor of his ancestors and achieve a goal that John did not know yet.
Jon took a deep breath and didn't explain anything immediately. Instead, he blinked and continued to look at Slytherin and asked.
"Did he tell you what his current situation is?"
Slytherin narrowed his eyes and said calmly.
"Tom told me that the witch hunt was getting more and more intense. The Muggles and Muggles had completely taken over the world, and the descendants of wizards with ancient bloodlines could only survive. He led the pure-bloods and half-bloods who were persecuted in Hogwarts to form another Hogwarts. While they were in exile under Dumbledore's persecution, he taught these children magic to resist."
Jon's face looked extremely strange, as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world, but he didn't know how to laugh at this pathetic lie.
Are the pure bloods led by Voldemort in exile?
If this were to get out, it would be the biggest joke of all.
Before Jon could say anything, Slytherin continued.
"I can guess why Dumbledore asked you to come here to find me. You know that he came to see me before. He wants to get help from me to help you defeat my own offspring?"
His tone was full of sarcasm, as if he was mocking Jon's delusion.
"I don't know how you found this place, nor do I know how those who asked you to come here could be sure that you would be recognized by me and enter this door, but I also want to know what kind of lies you can make up to make me believe you?"
Jon didn't speak at first, he knew very well that Slytherin was right.
One is a descendant of his own blood, and the other is a stranger who meets for the first time and has a different stance. Especially when Voldemort arrived here first, no one can easily believe the latter.
Jon began to rummage in the pockets of his robe. He knew that the journey would not be short, so he brought a lot of magic books for daily reading, and among them was a book on the history of magic.
To be precise, it is a "banned book" about the history of Hogwarts - " Hogwarts : A History".
Soon, he found the book, held it up and opened the title page in front of Slytherin.
"I won't explain much, sir, but I have a book about the history of Hogwarts. It records all the recorded history of the school from the founding of Hogwarts until the author of this book wrote it. It includes the story about you and the other three founders building the Hogwarts Castle, and also records the legend of the Chamber of Secrets you left behind. Compared to my words, the book that records history is the best answer and proof."
Jon didn't waste any time. He directly turned to the most crucial part of the school history and held it in front of the Slytherin.
"The International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy - the newly established British Ministry of Magic sent a special delegation to contact the Muggle monarchs William III and Mary II, hoping that Muggle law would recognize and protect wizards, but the plan eventually fell through, forcing wizards to reform themselves. The law was signed in 1689 and formally established in 1692. Almost all magical governments around the world agreed to this confidentiality regulation, hiding all information about wizards and magic, moving them underground, and keeping it secret."
"This law is enforced, and wizards of all bloodlines must abide by it. From this time on, the wizarding world and the Muggle world were completely separated. Since then, no wizards have had any contact with the Muggle government. Only after each Muggle leader takes office will the Ministry of Magic send someone to explain the existence of wizards to him, so as to facilitate some degree of communication and coordination between the two societies."
"It was from this time that almost no children with magical talents were persecuted, and the Obscurus was almost extinct. The witch hunt became history. As long as a child had magical talent, he would be admitted to a magic school. After graduation, he would stay in the wizarding world to make a living and it was impossible for him to return to Muggle society."
"So the difficulties and problems encountered in your time were solved three hundred years ago. I think your descendant Tom Riddle ."
