Volume 6: Secret Invasion Chapter 35 Sir! This Way!
Mason returned to the strange dark realm an hour later.
His mind was now filled with a bunch of "super knowledge" that he could not understand with his current knowledge.
The scientific and technological achievements originating from the Observer civilization are almost metaphysical. Things like the law of causality, digital rates, etc., which are difficult to even read, almost turned Mason's brain into a pot of pig brains.
He felt his brain heating up and now desperately needed some good news to relieve the pressure.
Then, he got good news.
"Is this... the Soul Stone?"
Mason looked at the orange-yellow rough stone the size of an M bean that Nick Fury handed to him. The latter was placed in an exquisite bottle and suspended in it, emitting a mysterious and unusual light.
The light illuminated Mason's eyes and also raised doubts in his heart.
He reached out and grasped the bottle containing the Soul Gem, then looked up at the heroes in front of him and said in a strange tone:
"So which great person voluntarily sacrificed the one he loved? I see that Cyclops and Dr. Reed, who have the highest chance of being sacrificed, are both still alive.
Could it be that Mr. Zhang finally couldn't help feeling helpless towards the old woman and chose to push Aunt Mei away?"
"Ha, you'll never guess the truth."
With a cigarette butt in his mouth, Zha Kang made faces and repeated to Mason what had just happened. After hearing that it was Hope who exchanged the Soul Stone for the zombie Pym couple, even though Mason was knowledgeable, he was stunned at this moment.
"What kind of high-end divine operation is this?"
He rubbed his brows and complained harshly:
"A new use has been developed for super-powered zombies. Once this 'strategy' gets out, the number of soul gems in the entire parallel world is expected to increase dramatically.
Just for the sake of this Soul Stone, I have to give the Domestic Violence Man a big medal."
"We got the gems, we did our job, what about yours?"
Nick Fury stared at Mason who ran back with empty hands.
He was so anxious and angry that his one eye was bloodshot. It was obvious that Brainiac's overwhelming strength made him feel hopeless.
He was like a gambler, placing his last chance on Mason.
"Reed, is the database hard drive ready?"
Mason held the Soul Gem in his hand, turned around and shouted to Mr. Fantastic in the crowd.
The latter nodded, picked up the huge hard drive at his feet that was deliberately made into a storage box, walked over, and placed it in front of Mason with a click and opened it.
"I still can't understand what you're going to do with this super hard drive that can store the entire data network, but according to your request, I set it up with triple redundancy."
Dr. Reed, who had just escaped a disaster, pushed up his glasses and introduced:
"It also comes with a wireless transmission signal transmitter, but it can only be used once."
"For a god-level hacker, one chance is enough."
Mason bent down and took out the data beacon interface of Bartomos, inserted it into the database in front of him, and took a step back.
The beacon activated and flashed a reddish light, indicating that something invisible was guiding it across dimensions and into the box in front of it.
After a few minutes of waiting, the light of the beacon interface dimmed, and the personal computer fixed on Dr. Reed's wrist suddenly turned on, and a line of jumping characters appeared on the optical projection:
“Hello World!”
"!!!"
Dr. Reed's face changed drastically at this moment, and he frantically operated on his personal computer, just like a young man whose computer was infected with a virus.
He realized his computer had been hacked, but the Baxter firewall he had programmed did not pop up any notifications.
This scene surprised his three academic teammates. They gathered together to discuss the plan, but they were completely unable to prevent the mysterious program hidden in Dr. Reed's computer from opening the Fantastic Four's private database and starting to browse their experimental data.
The scene was like a bank clerk watching a thief swagger into the vault and rummage through the treasures, but being unable to do anything.
"Okay, Bartmos, get ready when you've had enough fun."
Mason checked the time on his watch, put the Soul Gem in his hand into the database hard drive disguised as a storage box in front of him, locked it in his hand, and said to the empty surroundings:
"You only have one chance."
"I only had one chance to tear up the old network, and I only had one chance to complete the global upload process of the portable shrine, but I never failed."
A strange electronic combination sounded from Mason's watch, saying with a hint of ridicule and eagerness:
"Rather than worrying about my failure in intrusion, you should find a few good programmers to reset the communication module of Team K for you. This level of firewall is no different from toilet paper."
"Who is that?"
A group of people around looked at Mason's watch, which had also been hacked silently, in amazement. Dr. Reed said with great interest:
"It looks like a super-intelligent program? Is it the legendary data life?"
"Yes, some people call him the 'God of Data'."
Mason pushed the frame of his glasses on his nose and said:
"We just happen to be fighting against the God of Wisdom. This war between gods will kick off the final battle of this world. Either you win or you die. There is no third option."
"The Galactic Miranda has picked up its 'passengers'."
Star-Lord Black Panther squeezed out of the crowd and whispered to Mason:
"It is entering the solar system and is expected to return to Earth in a few hours."
"I can't wait that long."
Mason turned his head and looked at Ciri, who pointed at her watch. The hunter lady curled her lips, turned around, tore a crack and disappeared into it.
"Mason, the Green Goblin just sent this information."
Fury handed him the data he had collected about the Exile. Mason took it, took a look, shook his head and said:
"There's not much information. Knowing the weakness of the spaceship doesn't mean we can exploit it, but it does represent the Green Goblin's attitude. He is indeed a typical opportunist.
I guess that’s what Doom meant.”
He glanced at Dr. Reed and said to Fury:
"You communicate with them and ask them to find a way to release Brainiac's prisoners. If they want to take advantage of the situation, they have to do something practical. Leave the Exile's shield system to us. Once it disappears, it will be the signal for you to launch a counterattack.
Harry, Zack, let's go."
Mason patted the box in his hand, raised his eyebrows and said to his teammates:
"As a member of the Constellation, it is time to visit the noble Councillor Hope and present him with a valuable gift. If we can please Lord Brainiac, not only can we escape this disaster, but we may even be rewarded."
…
Brainiac's main ship remained above New York City, recovering his Skrull minions, which had been weakened by the neurotoxin attack.
Most of these "copycat aliens" had been killed in previous conflicts, leaving only a group of defeated soldiers, but Brainiac did not comment on their failure and did not impose any punishment.
That sounds pretty kind.
But this is just another form of contempt and disregard.
Of course, these Skrulls who escaped the heroes' reckoning are not completely helpless. They have been working hard to complete the tasks assigned by Brainiac in order to demonstrate their value.
For Brainiac, who advocates absolute rationality, his methods of dealing with those worthless items that take up resources have always been cruel and efficient.
Working under such a commander is obviously not a good job that makes people feel enjoyable.
"Our compatriots who remain in the universe still cannot find the hiding place of the Soul Gem, great master. I don't mean to point out your mistake, but the planet Vormir you pointed out has long been deserted."
The Skrull Queen, who was standing at the edge of the main control room at this time, lowered her head, with a pilgrim-like humility and fear from the bottom of her heart, as if to justify their failure and said:
"Great Master, perhaps we should immediately restart the search for the Soul Gem in this plane? Those heroes of this world who were rescued by strange forces must also be looking for it.
We have to keep up with them.
My people and I are willing to serve your cause once again, as long as there is a definite place and a goal."
"No need for that. The heroes of this world have already seen through my purpose for coming here."
Brainiac, still sitting on the mechanical throne, waved his hand, rejected the Skrull Queen's suggestion and said casually:
"I don't have to do anything. They will naturally send the Soul Stone to me. This is the only conclusion I have reached after millions of calculations.
They don't have the ability to fight back.
Therefore, the only strategy available is to use the Soul Gem to satisfy my desire and reach a peace proposal with me. There is a very small probability that they will launch a sneak attack on me when delivering the raw stone.
But they lacked the power to win.
In this future model, the only two "variables" that need to be considered are the two outsiders who do not belong to this world, Mason Cooper and the mysterious spellcaster.
Especially the latter..."
The mechanical tentacle connected to Brainiac's brain on the upper left was trembling.
This means that he is doing a lot of thinking and making calculated predictions about the future based on the current situation.
This is his way of fighting.
Using data and calculations to formulate the next strategy and provide timely feedback on changes has made him invincible in the past.
His accurate prediction of the heroes' next move seemed to prove the excellence of this strategy. However, just as Brainiac was calculating how to deal with the "variables", the perfect Ultron standing next to him, who was like a standard robot, suddenly shook his body.
The five Infinity Stones in the grooves of its chest flashed one by one, as if to indicate that something had just happened.
It raised its head.
Reporting to Brainiac in a silent electronic voice:
"The Soul Stone has been taken out. The direction it disappeared from is consistent with the location where those Earth heroes hid, in that strange plane that cannot be tracked."
"Yeah, just as I expected."
Brainiac nodded from his throne.
A red light flickered in the depths of his eyes, and he was obviously thinking about a strategy. After a moment, he activated the communication projection on his throne of knowledge, and the Green Goblin's head floated in front of him.
Brainiac said of the collaborator whom he considered "incompetent":
"I wanted to destroy this world to conceal my actions here and avoid provoking my dangerous companions."
The mechanical throne was spinning in the air. Brainiac, sitting on it, looked down at the leader of the Sinister Six and said:
"My previous promise to hand over this world to you was just a pacification strategy. You lack the power to check and balance me, so facing this outcome, you have no choice but to accept it and continue to depend on me.
But now, I have changed my mind.
I can fulfill our agreement and lend you my legions so that you can truly become the king of the world.
But you must do one more thing for me.
Interference with the variables in the future model requires corresponding means to check and balance them, so when they send the Soul Stone, you have to get rid of Mason Cooper for me.
And Doom, I have a very important mission for you.
I need you and the Doctor Strange from this world that you have hidden to hold back the mysterious spellcaster. If he sides with the heroes, you must delay the time until I can complete my plan.
If you can accomplish this, then I will ensure that our agreement is honored and that we protect this world until the impact is in its final stages."
The Green Goblin and his friends were somewhat dissatisfied.
Because the guy in front of him expressed his intention to break the contract in a very arrogant way.
But as Brainiac's calm voice emphasized, they lacked the power to check the cyborg.
They can also rebel.
But it would be too "outrageous" to do such a thing when their fleet already controls the world.
You see, Brainiac didn't even mention this probability, which means that this level 12 intelligent creature has completely controlled the Green Goblin and his gang.
The communication was hung up the next moment. The Green Goblin looked back at his companions with a gloomy face, and finally set his sights on Dr. Doom who was busy in front of a large quantum computer at the other end of the room.
He said:
"Doom, what do you think?"
"They got the Soul Stone, they got the match point back, they did the best they could."
Doom's ten fingers kept tapping on the keyboard, pushing what he was doing into the next stage. Without even turning his head, he said:
"The next step is to see if they can effectively check and balance Brainiac. I want to remind you that just because Brainiac speaks candidly doesn't mean he won't lie.
He didn't even hide his intention to break the contract, which meant he had another option.
Rather than gambling on the sincerity of this conqueror of the universe, I prefer to do something more certain. In fact, the hero's side also has a choice left for us.
The Exile's shield currently appears to be impossible to breach from the outside, but we can attempt an internal assault.
In their previous defeat, they allowed their strongest heroes to be captured by Brainiac, which seemed to be a preparation for a subsequent counterattack. "
"Click"
He typed the last line of code to make the extremely complex program written in an alien language on the screen enter self-checking, then turned back to the Green Goblin and said:
"When Brainiac promised me the future, I intercepted the program information of his mechanical throne that controls the Exile's ship.
Now I have cracked the firewall in the throne.
The ship and his fleet are in 'hive mode', so taking control of the throne means you can take over Brainiac's command of his armies."
Doom glanced at the screen, and after the program self-check was completed, he took out the black plug-in mechanical interface and handed it to the Green Goblin, who took it in his hand, looked at it, and said to Doom:
"You just gave me this thing? You know that if I control that spaceship, I will become the real king of the world, right?"
"It's up to you whether you want to be the king of the world or the captain of the earth."
Doom stared at Norman Osborn from beneath his armored armor. He said:
"Just don't disturb my plan. Brainiac's judgment of you is very accurate, Norman. You are no longer qualified to go any further.
Until now, you still think that Brainiac in front of you is our biggest threat, even though the other party has clearly told you that there are things he cannot handle.
You have no idea of the real threat, just like you still can't figure out why I would actively ask to join your Sinister Six.
That ship contains valuable knowledge, knowledge that will ensure we are not left unprepared for the dark times ahead.
Impact!
The cosmic crisis that has never happened in this world but is real is the burden I am thinking about, but these heavy things should be left to the wise to worry about. "
His Majesty the King of Latveria patted the Green Devil on the shoulder and said with a hint of sarcasm:
"As for you, my friend, enjoy your life as the king of the world."
