Volume 6: The World of Rebellion Chapter 313 Shadow Killing
Darkness covered the silent night of Silver Pine Forest. The sound of horse hooves broke the tranquility of the night. A team of knights galloped through the path in the forest at lightning speed and stopped at a crossroads.
There are dense forests on both sides of the road. In the distance to the east, the hazy shadow of a small town can be vaguely seen, and to the west is a gloomy forest.
Under the bridge not far away, a fishman whose whole body was immersed in water showed half of his head and stared at these uninvited guests curiously.
"Your Highness, this is Brynir. We will reach the border of Silverpine Forest if we go further. It is a dangerous area called the Dark Forest. Should we find a place to rest for the night?"
As the guard spoke, he couldn't help but look towards the small town in the east.
"No, let's continue on our way." Arthas said unwaveringly.
It has been three days since he left Lordaeron. He and his servants have been running non-stop for three days. Since he has planned to leave, he did not hesitate at all, and would not place his hope on Godwin's possible kindness. At this time, he no longer has any good feelings towards this elder brother.
Although Godwin did not take action at that time, he could feel that his elder brother had the intention to kill him, and he had to leave Lordaeron as soon as possible.
The servant who spoke looked embarrassed.
"Your Highness, the Dark Forest is not very safe, especially at night. There have been many bad legends before. It is said that there are werewolves roaming in the forest."
Arthas snorted, "If I really encounter werewolves, I would like to try to see if they are as terrible as the rumors say - keep moving forward."
After saying that, he kicked his warhorse, leaped out, and rushed into the dark forest ahead.
Compared to the werewolves in the dark forest, Arthas was more worried about his elder brother, the man blessed by the Holy Light.
The servants behind him had no choice but to follow.
As the most beloved son of King Terenas, even though he was exiled, Arthas still had some followers around him. When he decided to leave Lordaeron, a dozen squire knights were willing to accept the fate of exile with him.
Now faced with the threats lurking in the dark forest, these knights naturally cannot stand still.
The forest was darker than outside. Even the bright moonlight could not penetrate the dense branches and leaves. The warhorse was traveling among the trees. Arthas drew out the Song of Ice and Fire, and let the sword's light illuminate the way forward.
Suddenly, his nose twitched and a bloody smell filled the forest.
He pulled the reins hard and stopped, and the knights behind him gathered around him one after another.
They also smelled the bloody smell, which was extremely strong and made people feel uneasy.
Was it a beast? Or something else? The knights looked around anxiously, and suddenly one of them screamed, "Your Highness, there seems to be something there?"
Some white fur could be vaguely seen in the darkness. Arthas dismounted and approached cautiously with his knights.
It was indeed a werewolf! To be exact, it was a dead werewolf. The werewolf's hideous head had been cut off, and the lower half of its body fell to the ground, bleeding still. It looked like it had not been dead for long.
And around them, there were seven or eight werewolf corpses lying in a mess.
Their huge claws and strong bodies undoubtedly proved that the rumors were not exaggerated. These were indeed terrible monsters, but now they were all dead.
What killed them? Wouldn't it be even more terrifying if it killed them? Thinking of this, the knights became nervous and alert.
Arthas looked at the werewolf's corpse and suddenly felt a chill in his heart. It seemed that something was approaching from behind.
Be careful! He turned around suddenly, and the next second, a scream suddenly came from the darkness behind him.
ah!
A knight's body was suddenly dragged into the darkness and disappeared. Screams and the sound of broken bones were heard in the darkness. A moment later, the body broken into two pieces was thrown out from the darkness.
"No—Robert!"
"Who is it?"
"Prince Arthas, we have to get out of here!"
The knights shouted in fear, but Arthas took a step forward and swung the Song of Ice and Fire violently!
A flaming sword flew through the air, illuminating some unknown creatures wriggling in the darkness.
In the darkness, something was wriggling, gathering into a mass as if it were a substance, and then gathering into the shape of a woman.
Black Blade Dixi played with the scimitar in his hand, with a cruel smile on his face, "Good evening, Prince Arthas. It's so late, and walking in this dark forest is not the behavior of a good boy."
"Who is it?"
"Protect the prince!"
"She killed Robert!"
When the knights saw that it was a woman, they immediately surrounded her from both sides and prepared to attack. However, there were obviously more enemies than just one. Darkness suddenly attacked from all directions. Screams rang out one after another, and knights were constantly swallowed by the darkness.
Arthas' eyes widened with anger, he roared, and slashed with his sword, but Black Blade Dizzy chuckled, took a step back and disappeared into the darkness.
"Come back!" He slashed at the darkness continuously, the flaming sword energy slashing into the darkness in vain, but the black knife Di Xi was as ghostly as a shadow, and had no intention of fighting at all.
When Arthas finally calmed down, the surrounding area was already filled with the corpses of knights.
The darkness surrounded him.
Arthas thrust his sword into the ground—BOOM!
The flames spread in all directions like a halo, lighting up several oak trees and illuminating the dark night. Four strange assassins, all covered in black, surrounded Arthas.
Black Blade Assassin (Black Blade Dizzy's Shadow Servant): Elite. Level 60.
Arthas could not see the names of these monsters. He could only see their featureless faces made of black matter and their limbs that looked like abstract human shapes.
This was the first time that Arthas had seen such an evil monster. He never expected that behind the dazzling light of holy light, there was such an ugly darkness hidden.
"Did Big Brother send you here? To kill me? You disgusting monsters."
Arthas roared and swung out a flaming sword energy - Flame Breaking the Air!
The dazzling flames lit up the night, and the flaming sword energy whistled and slashed through, setting the branches and leaves of trees on fire wherever it passed.
However, the black knife Di Xi disappeared into the darkness one step ahead.
Disappearing along with her were those shadow servants. The flickering firelight around them cast ghostly shadows of the trees.
"You have some strength, Prince Arthas, but it's a pity that you are just a child after all." The voice of Black Blade Dizzy came from the darkness. Her figure jumped and shuttled in the shadow of the fire. Arthas looked around vigilantly.
Suddenly, a dark shadow suddenly attacked from behind.
"die!"
With a sound of "Puchi, Puchi", the two scimitars left deep sword marks on his body that were visible to the bone.
It hurts! Arthas swung his sword, but only cut the air, and the black knife Di Xi disappeared again.
"Come out!"
"Don't worry, we have plenty of time to play slowly."
Black Knife Di Xi was in no hurry to kill, but kept launching surprise attacks as if he was playing with his prey.
Her four shadow servants also cooperated with her in the attack.
Leaving wound after wound on Arthas' body.
Whenever Arthas wanted to counterattack, Black Blade Dizzy would disappear in advance.
It has to be said that this ghostly assassin hiding in the darkness made Arthas completely at a loss as to how to deal with it.
What’s even worse is that as the wounds on his body increased, he felt a chill coming over him.
The dark attack seemed to be able to corrode his body and mind.
Another surprise attack, Arthas barely blocked the attack of Black Blade Dizzy, but was grabbed twice on the back by two shadow servants.
These monsters' bodies seem to be able to switch between solid and phantom, making them hard to guard against.
Arthas staggered and fell down pretending to be weak, leaning on his sword and looking at the darkness in front of him, secretly accumulating strength.
Black Blade Di Xi appeared again, along with her four shadow servants.
"Is this all you can do? It's really disappointing."
Arthas gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, as he had one last chance to explode.
The next second, Black Blade Di Xi and four shadow servants attacked from all directions at the same time.
The time is now!
Arthas roared and swung his sword, but the cold feeling on his body made his limbs stiff, and his movements were obviously half a beat slower. The sword once again missed the target. The figure of Black Blade Dizzy disappeared and reappeared, with a determined smile on his face.
"You actually have a trick up your sleeve. Haha, it's a pity that this trick doesn't work on me. Goodbye, Prince Arthas."
At the moment the blade swung down——
A dazzling holy light suddenly bloomed in the darkness, dispelling the wriggling shadows, and a burly warrior suddenly rushed out from the light.
He held high the holy emblem of the God of Light, releasing dazzling holy light, and in his other hand he held a heavy sword with a shining blade.
"Back off, monsters in the darkness! Back off in the face of the light." The man roared, his voice low and passionate.
The shadow servants dissipated in the holy light like melting snow, and the black knife Di Xi roared and slashed at them.
Ding! The swords collided, and the power of holy light surged again. The shadow power on the woman faded like a tide, revealing the true face of Black Blade Di Xi.
Black Blade Di Xi was startled. Without the protection of the shadow, she could not disappear instantly as before, so she quickly retreated.
She looked at the man hatefully, then looked at Arthas who still had half his health left, turned around and disappeared into the darkness.
The uncle looked at the place where Black Blade Dixi disappeared for a long time, then shook his head, "It seems that you have provoked a formidable enemy, Prince Arthas."
"You know me?" Arthas was surprised and a little alert at the same time. Because of Godwin, he was now somewhat indifferent to the Holy Light and no longer had the same trust in people who practiced the Holy Light as before.
He looked at the man in front of him. He was big and strong, with a gray beard, about forty or fifty years old. He looked very kind, wearing a somewhat old knight's armor, and looked a bit like a country vassal knight.
The uncle didn't care. "Of course I recognize you. I hugged you at the last Lordaeron Annual Meeting. I didn't expect that you can already draw your sword and fight after not seeing you for a few years. I am Tirion Fordring, Lord of Hearthglen. How is King Terenas?"
Arthas was surprised. He had heard of this name before. Godwin seemed to value this person very much and had arranged for someone to invite him to join the Knights of the Silver Hand.
I didn't expect that his appearance was so plain and unpretentious, and I didn't expect that the two of them would meet under such circumstances.
"Why would you come to this dark forest all by yourself? How could King Terenas allow such a thing to happen?"
"Father is dead."
What!? Tirion Fordring was obviously surprised. He had just received this information.
"you do not know?"
Tirion Fordring shook his head. "I received the call a few days ago and have been on the road these past few days. What on earth happened?"
Arthas recounted what had happened.
Tirion Fordring became more and more surprised as he listened, but unlike the other lords who reacted exaggeratedly after hearing the news, Tirion Fordring looked very calm.
"It's such a pity that something like this could happen. Ah, you're injured. Let me heal you. I've gained a lot of experience in practicing Holy Light recently, and I've learned some healing techniques. Although I haven't used them on humans, they are very useful ."
Arthas hesitated. Could this man be in league with his elder brother? But Tirion seemed to understand his thoughts.
"Don't be nervous, Prince Arthas. There may be one or two bad people among those who use the Holy Light, but power is power. Power will not deteriorate because of the evil of its user. Don't let hatred blind your eyes."
Strength is strength? This view surprised Arthas. In the eyes of all the believers of Holy Light he had met, Holy Light was synonymous with justice, and practicing Holy Light was natural justice. As for shadow magic, it was naturally evil.
He used to think so too, until his elder brother Godwin taught him a good lesson.
Who could have thought that Big Brother would have an assassin under his command who could use pure shadow power.
"The most sacred power can be used for evil, and the most evil power can be used for good. It is people who are good and evil, not the power itself."
As Tirion Fordring spoke, he gently brushed his hand over Arthas' wounds. With the healing power of the Holy Light, Arthas' wounds healed quickly.
Even the cold feeling in my body disappeared.
"See, that's much better."
Arthas was deeply touched.
Indeed, as long as it is used well, what kind of power does it matter? As long as the power of Holy Light is used properly, it doesn't seem so unpleasant.
Not only holy light, but even the power of shadow, if used well, wouldn't it also play a good role? That shadow assassin is so elusive, if I can master such power, maybe it will be much easier to understand the feud with Godwin in the future.
Holy Light and Shadow, two forces, left a deep impression on Arthas' heart at this moment.
The next day, when the dawn sunlight shone into the forest.
Arthas and Tirion Fordring stood in front of a row of graves, silent.
Arthas buried all the knights, but became confused again.
"Come on, Arthas, it's time for us to get on the road."
"You want to go with me?" Arthas was a little surprised.
"Of course, after what happened last night, I'm afraid it's not appropriate for me to report to Lordaeron again. Besides, I once swore allegiance to King Terenas, and it is obviously part of my duty to protect his children."
"But if you do this, my brother might get angry."
"Ha, that has nothing to do with me. Let's go. Those shadow assassins are likely to appear again. I will escort you to a safe place first."
Speaking of the Black Blade Dizzy, Arthas was still a little frightened. He had never encountered such a ghostly enemy.
The key is that their abilities are too restrained.
The two men mounted their horses and galloped away.
While galloping in the sunlight of dawn, Arthas couldn't help but ask: "Can I learn the power of Holy Light from you? I think it should be useful next time I encounter those enemies."
"Of course you can, but Holy Light is not that easy to learn. You have to be mentally prepared."
As they talked, they gradually disappeared into the depths of the forest.
