Volume 7: Frost Chapter 46: Lost
After standing firm, Guan Qingtong first looked around, then walked up to Jiang You and Tang Butian and asked, "How long have you been here?"
Jiang You said, "About an hour or two."
Guan Qingtong nodded, she turned and walked towards the frost-covered door. Just as she was about to reach out, Jiang You stopped her and said, "Don't touch it."
Guan Qingtong lowered her hands.
Jiang You and Tang Butian walked over.
Tang Butian scraped off the frost on the door with a wooden knife.
Guan Qingtong recognized the pattern on the door. She said, "Meng Yuanbai has been here." She looked at Jiang You, "Can you open it?"
"No." Jiang You answered simply.
Frost quickly condensed on the surface of the door.
"Did you meet anyone here?" Guan Qingtong asked again.
"We encountered a little tree demon. He lied to us and said that to open the door, we had to sacrifice a life." Jiang You felt a little cold. He took a step back and put his hands in his pockets. "So the section chief sacrificed him with great effort. It turned out that he was lying to us. All our efforts were in vain."
Guan Qingtong said: "What I'm looking for is in there."
Jiang You suggested, "Ask Zhuang Zekun, doesn't he also know the same trick?"
Guan Qingtong nodded and said, "This is the only way."
"Do you have a satellite phone?" Jiang You asked.
Guan Qingtong shook her head. "They are all at Xiaowen's place. Besides, I don't think we can make calls here even if we have a satellite phone."
"What should we do then?"
"Wait, wait here," Guan Qingtong raised her head and looked at the night sky, "Xiao Wen will find us."
…
After Zhu Wen was brought out of the collapse range by Tang Butian's knife, he quickly stood up and ran forward.
The sand and the sky were connected together, whistling and spinning in the strong wind.
Zhu Wen staggered back a few steps. After he stood firm again, he shielded his eyes with his hands and looked towards the center of the vortex. It was pitch black in there and he couldn't make out anything.
Suddenly, there seemed to be light coming out from the sand that blocked out the sun. Zhu Wen saw that the sand seemed to melt and disappear quickly in the sunlight...
A gust of wind blew by.
Grains of sand gently flowed over the tops of his shoes.
He looked around. The vast blue sky covered the desert that was gilded by the sunlight. A jeep was parked quietly not far away, but Guan Qingtong and the other three were missing.
…
"We caught him!" Guan Nuo shouted excitedly.
Hearing this, Lin Shunan walked up to him and said, "Let me take a look."
Cao Ming and Zhai Xiaolei also came over.
After a long talk in the laboratory, Guan Nuo and Lin Shunan's relationship improved a lot. Lin Shunan mentioned , so he brought newcomers Cao Ming and Zhai Xiaolei out to capture the reaction of alien spiritual power.
With the help of instruments and divination, they caught him.
"We really caught it," Lin Shunan looked at Guan Nuo, "That's good. In the next experiment..."
At this time, Guan Nuo's cell phone rang.
Guan Nuo picked up the phone, "Uncle Wen, what's wrong?"
Lin Shunan saw Guan Nuo's expression suddenly darken.
"My mother is missing? ... I'll come over right away and tell me the address... OK, OK, I got it..." Guan Nuo hung up the phone. He saw the concerned expressions of Lin Shunan, Cao Ming and Zhai Xiaolei, and said, "Something happened. I have to go back to the office now."
"Did something happen to my aunt?" Lin Shunan asked.
"Yes, Uncle Wen said my mother is missing and asked me to go over and calculate her location. They went to the desert. What did she do in the desert..." Guan Nuo started to speak incoherently , "She only told me that she was on a business trip and that there was a section chief..."
"Auntie will be fine," Lin Shunan put away the equipment and said, "I'll take you to the police station now, don't panic."
"Okay, okay."
…
The temperature near the door was getting lower and lower.
"Shall we go up first?" Jiang You suggested.
Guan Qingtong was a little hesitant.
"The door doesn't have legs, it won't run away." Jiang You put on his bag, picked up Jiang Mo, and climbed up first.
Tang Butian followed.
Guan Qingtong looked at the door. She stretched out her hand, and when her fingers were about to touch the frost, she quickly took a step back.
Nothing happened.
She turned around and saw Tang Butian nimbly passing by Jiang You.
Jiang You climbed out of the tunnel panting. When he looked up, he saw Tang Butian. He put down the minced ginger, took a few breaths of fresh air, and then said, "I think you should learn some sword-controlling skills. If this happens again, you can take me out."
"It's okay now." Tang Butian said.
"Really?"
"Fly away." Tang Butian's expression was serious.
At this time, Guan Qingtong also climbed up. She glanced at Jiang You and Tang Butian and said, "When I walked over here, I saw some dead trees. I picked up some branches and brought them here."
"I'll go too." said Tang Butian.
"good."
Jiang You lay on the sand, looking at the moon, which was bigger and brighter than the moon in the city. After a while, he felt sleepy. After closing his eyes, he felt the cold air coming from the sand under him and seeping into his clothes. So he sat up, rummaged through his bag, found a half-bottle of Coke and took a sip.
Jiang Mo squatted not far away with his back to him.
After waiting for a while, Guan Qingtong and Tang Butian came back with a lot of branches.
Jiang You skillfully built the bonfire.
The cold was driven away by the fire.
Jiang You took out a few bags of compressed biscuits and some water. He said, "I hope Brother Wen can come over soon. I'm already missing the instant noodles I had yesterday."
"You guys eat first, I'll go look around." Guan Qingtong said as he stood up .
"Do you want us to go with you? It's not safe in the desert at night." Jiang You said.
"No, I'm nearby," Guan Qingtong refused, and then she added, "I want to take a look at the terrain here."
"Okay, be careful."
After Guan Qingtong left, Jiang You opened a bag of compressed biscuits, took a bite, chewed for a long time, and swallowed it. Then he took out a can of milk from his bag and shouted to Jiang Mo, "Light Soy Sauce, come here, it's time for dinner."
Jiang Mo didn't move.
"So I drank it?"
Jiang Mo still didn't move.
"What's wrong with him?" Tang Butian asked.
"You must be a little sad that your friend is gone."
"He killed Xiao Hu."
"This is not something he can control," Jiang You unfastened the buckle and drank a sip of milk, "I tried to keep him sincerely, but there is nothing I can do."
"I still don't understand." Tang Butian said.
The milk in Jiang You's hand suddenly flew away.
Jiang You smiled, took out a cigarette, and lay down again. This time, the sand was warm and soft.
The smoke drifted upwards.
"Xiao Hu, let's just call him that. He's too young, you know." Jiang You turned his head to look at Tang Butian, the firelight illuminating her face. "His idea, to put it simply, is to leave a little fire in the human race, and look forward to those who inherit the fire to lead humans back to the path of gods and demons. Maybe one day we can return to the era of gods and demons."
"What will happen?"
"It would be very boring. I would often be in seclusion for five hundred years, and my enemies would still be the same."
"What's your experience?"
"No, I read about it in novels," Jiang You took a puff of cigarette, "It's nothing like now. In the past ten years, the white legs of female groups have changed several times, and..."
"What?"
"Even if he succeeds, cultivation becomes a compulsory subject," Jiang You pulled the backpack under his head and used it as a pillow. He said, "Eight percent of human DNA comes from viruses. Aren't humans still humans? Even with cat ears, they are still humans. I think he was deceived."
"What's the meaning?"
"He is willing to be a martyr," Jiang You turned his head and looked into Tang Butian's eyes, "What about the others?"
"You don't want to?"
"Most of them come here to recruit believers and to store food. They are very simple and don't have such lofty pursuits," Jiang You exhaled smoke. "Tell them that some humans are the same as them. If humans live and work in peace and contentment here, it means that they can live and work in peace and contentment here too. Do you think they will be happy?"
"Not willingly."
"That's right! I prefer eating by myself rather than watching eating shows."
"What will happen?" Tang Butian asked.
"There is a door at the foot of Jiujin Mountain, and here. I guess there are many more doors." Jiang You put out his cigarette in the sand. "As long as the fire is there, the door will be there."
"Then what?"
"Then the more humans who inherit his fire, the more bugs will come in through the door. Some of them will be cannon fodder, promoting their cultivation to enter the college entrance examination. The other part, those who know or guess the truth, will quietly wait for their chance. Maybe one day they will really return to the era of gods and demons."
Tang Butian clenched the wooden sword.
Jiang You sat up and drank the rest of the Coke in the bottle. Then he said, "The mountain will become very important by then, much more important than it is now. There's nothing wrong with that, right?"
"I want to stop it."
"Why?"
"I can't give a reason."
“Embrace change.”
The firelight reflected in Tang Butian's eyes, and she said, "I don't want to."
Footsteps were heard from not far away.
Guan Qingtong came back.
She walked to the fire, and Jiang You gave her a bag of compressed biscuits, a bag of beef jerky, and a small bottle of mineral water.
He said, "Just eat whatever you want. There's still enough food. The water should last me about two days."
Guan Qingtong tore open the compressed biscuit packaging bag and said, "That's enough."
"Did you leave a message for Lao Zhu?" Jiang You asked tentatively.
Guan Qingtong replied: "I have a positioning device on me. If it fails, I still have Xiao Nuo. He can calculate my location."
Jiang You nodded and said with emotion: "Through this trip, I can see myself more clearly."
"Yeah?"
Jiang You took out his cell phone, turned it on, and took a few photos of the starry sky. "I am only suitable for cities, places with internet and takeout."
Guan Qingtong looked at Tang Butian and asked, "Do you think the mountains are better or the city is better?"
"There is internet and telecommunications on the mountain." said Tang Butian.
"When you were in the mountain, didn't you ever think of coming out to take a look?" Guan Qingtong asked again.
"My practice went smoothly."
"Is that so?"
Tang Butian explained: "You need to go down the mountain only when your mind is unstable or you are unable to make a breakthrough."
"When I was your age, I was very restless and loved to run around," Guan Qingtong supported her hands behind her back and looked at the starry sky. "We often chatted around the fire, talking about everything. We were very happy. So many years have passed in a blink of an eye."
