Volume 7: Frost Chapter 72 Changes
Deposit, disinfection, changing clothes... After completing a series of procedures, the sky became completely dark and the rain began to fall.
Lin Shunan opened the security door and led Ren Qingning and the other two into the small world.
The gray sky weighed down the dead forest.
The cabin in the woods was in a complete state of disrepair. Twisted branches had pierced through the walls, ripped through the roof, and were baring their fangs and claws toward the sky.
Wang Jin was the first to walk into the dead woods. After a moment, she turned around and asked Ren Qingning, "Uncle Master, I don't feel there is anything special here."
" What do you think?" Ren Qingning looked at Zhong Yan and asked.
Zhong Yan took a few steps forward and said, "I sense a sense of decay. I'm afraid this place will begin to collapse soon."
"It does look like that on the surface. Follow me." As he spoke, Ren Qingning quickly stepped forward, walked around in circles to the front of the cabin, jumped up, and landed lightly on the roof.
Zhong Yan and Wang Jin also jumped onto the roof.
"Look again." Ren Qingning said.
Zhong Yan and Wang Jin looked forward as instructed.
The dead tree is shaking.
There is no wind.
The shaking is very small and almost unnoticeable when standing on the ground, but if you stand at the highest point, you can see these dead trees shaking according to a certain pattern.
The sky was shaking too.
Feeling dizzy, Zhong Yan took a step back and stepped on the roof board that was about to break, and then he fell backwards.
"Be careful." Ren Qingning grabbed Zhong Yan.
Ren Qingning's voice woke Zhong Yan up.
"Energy. These dead branches are trying hard to absorb energy. This world is trying to repair itself..." Wang Jin saw something. She asked, " Where does the energy come from? Research Institute?"
"It's not the research institute," Ren Qingning denied Wang Jin's guess, "it's from somewhere outside this space, in the void, in the chaos. This is why I think it's a pity that the project was terminated."
Lin Shunan did not enter the dead forest.
He stood by the door, holding an instrument in his hand, recording various data in the space. After completing the basic work, he raised his head and glanced in the direction of Ren Qingning and the other two, then he walked forward a few steps, walked to a dead tree, and picked up the instrument to scan again.
Even after Ren Qingning and the other two walked out of the dead woods from the wooden house, Lin Shunan was still immersed in his work.
"We're fine." Ren Qingning said to Lin Shunan.
"Okay, I'll be ready soon," Lin Shunan quickly pressed a few buttons on the instrument control panel, put the instrument down, and said, "Let's go."
Ren Qingning's eyes fell on the instrument screen and he asked, "Did you find anything?"
"I just wrote down the data," Lin Shunan looked up at the gray sky, "I don't know when I will come in next time."
Zhong Yan comforted him and said, "There will definitely be another chance."
Lin Shunan said noncommittally: "Maybe, let's go, it's getting late."
The four left the small world.
Ren Qingning was the last one to walk out. When he stepped into the security door, he turned his head and looked back.
…
Two o'clock in the morning on Sunday.
A black car drove out of the institute.
…
Boom boom boom…
"Uncle Chang, Uncle Chang..." Jin Cheng shouted while knocking on the door.
Chang Lizhang opened his eyes, propped himself up and sat on the bed with his eyes closed for a few seconds, then got out of bed and opened the door for Jin Cheng.
"Uncle Chang, I had another dream." Jin Cheng said.
"What did you dream about? Why are you so anxious?" Chang Lizhang asked.
"It was the same dream as last time, but with a lot more content," Jin Cheng swallowed hard, "Yes, there were a lot of corpses. No, I don't know if they were asleep or dead. They were floating in the darkness. They, they... I turned around and it was the previous dream. It was all golden, and then I woke up."
"Calm down first," Chang Lizhang walked out of the room and glanced at the clock on the living room wall. It was just past six o'clock. "Sit for a while. I'll heat up some porridge."
"Uncle Chang, those people, they, I think, they, they might be soldiers."
"What?" Chang Lizhang stopped and looked at Jin Cheng and asked, "Did you see it clearly?"
"I don't know, but I have this feeling, and I am very panicked now. I didn't have this feeling when Uncle Zheng was there before. It seems like something is going to happen soon..."
"I'll report to the institute first." Chang Lizhang walked back to the room quickly, found his cell phone, and dialed a number. "Teacher Ji, yes, it's urgent... Jin Cheng, he had a dream , very unusual, very urgent... No, I didn't tell anyone about the institute, I'm sure... OK, OK, I got it..."
After hanging up the phone, he turned around and saw Jin Cheng still standing by the door. He forced a smile and said, "Something happened in the institute recently."
Jin Cheng was very perceptive, "What did they suspect you had said to me?"
"Let me talk to the Special Operations Department again... It seems that only Xiao Sun is in the department recently..." As he was talking, the call was connected, and Sun Yu's voice came from the receiver: "Brother Chang? Yes, the section chief and others are not here. Is there anything wrong? Should I go to the unit? Oh, we can get in touch. Yes, we were chatting last night, but the signal was not very good..."
…
Buzz buzz buzz.
The phone vibrated.
Jiang You fumbled for his cell phone on the bed but didn't find it. Instead, he heard a thud, and then the vibration sound became sharper - the phone fell to the ground.
Jiang You struggled for a while, but failed to get up, so he turned over, buried his head in the pillow and tried to continue sleeping.
After a moment, the vibration stopped.
Jiang You breathed a sigh of relief. At this moment, the knock on the door sounded again. He tried his best to shrink his body and arch his body into the quilt. Then, with a bang, the wooden door was kicked open. Squinting his eyes, he saw a slender figure standing at the door.
It's Tang, not sweet.
"What's the matter?" Jiang You half sat up and began to touch his glasses.
"Jin Cheng is dreaming ."
"I was dreaming too..." Jiang You found his glasses in the gap between the quilts and put them on, then bent down to pick up his phone from the ground. It was Sun Yu calling. He looked up at Tang Butian, "What did Sun Yu say to you?"
"Yes. It's related to the last prophetic dream. Many corpses are floating in the darkness..." Tang Butian said, and then she saw Jiang You's head drooping. She shouted, "Jiang You!"
"I'm listening," Jiang You shuddered and sat up straight, "I, I just woke up, I'm still a little confused..."
Before he could finish his words, he saw the wooden sword slip out of Tang Butian's hand and fly towards him. After circling over his head, it flew back to Tang Butian's hand.
A cold voice asked him, "Are you awake?"
"Awake." Jiang You answered firmly.
"Jin Cheng guessed that the body was a soldier."
"Talk to Zhuang Zekun, and then ask Guan Nuo for a fortune-teller, and it'll be over. They're both in the mountains, an old special forces officer and a newbie." Jiang You couldn't help but yawned again, "I, I'm too sleepy, you go ahead and do it, I'll sleep for a while."
Seeing that Tang Butian had not left yet, Jiang You sighed and asked, "Leader, do you think I did something, or do you want me to do something?"
"I don't know." After saying that, Tang Butian turned and left.
"Hey, close the door..."
The door slammed shut and the window opened at the same time. Jiang Mo swung in along a spider silk, stepped on the bed, and looked at him arrogantly.
Jiang You pulled the quilt over his face.
“It’s changing.”
"Yeah." Jiang You hummed, and then fell asleep.
